3 sawmills, 110 years of experience, a total of 2 million cubic meters of logs, and over 1,000 employees throughout Germany. That’s who we are. Klenk Holz. And besides the appropriate numbers, data, and facts, we offer our employees the opportunity to grow at their jobs. 

The Klenk Holz Oberrot sawmill is the headquarters of our company and the largest branch. With a cutting capacity of 750,000 cubic meters of logs, around 520 employees on site deal with processing high quality wood products.

 

The idyllic location in the middle of the Rottal (Rot Valley) is the perfect place for real naturals. Surrounded by lush green, Oberrot is close to the cultural town of Schwäbisch Hall. One arrives in Stuttgart, the state capital of Baden-Württemberg, in just an hour. With its major cultural and recreational offerings, the Swabian metropolis really leaves nothing to be desire

With around 330 employees, Baruth is the second largest Klenk Holz location. Its cutting capacity is 1,100,000 cubic meters of logs.

 

Our sawmill is just 70 kilometers from the gates of the German capital of Berlin. You will find everything that nature lovers need in and around Baruth. For young workers who long for the urban jungle, Berlin offers everything that can quicken the pulse.

Our Wolfegg location hosts around 110 workers and has a cutting capacity of 240,000 cubic meters of logs.

 

Wolfegg is part of the district of the Upper Swabian town of Ravensburg in southern Baden-Württemberg. The landscape around Lake Constance offers major recreational activities. The historic town of Ravensburg, only 20 kilometers away, offers numerous cultural attractions and events in addition to its beautiful old town.

Training and dual course of study

FOR GREENHORNS.

In order to take a path that corresponds to your personal strengths, it is important to be well informed. At Klenk Holz, we have been training greenhorns for generations. We have always been involved with passing on our knowledge. This develops into new life with every generation. Each year we thus train many naturally talented people both in the industrial as well as commercial sectors. Surrounded by a team of specialists, at Klenk Holz you will learn everything that there is to know about sustainable raw material. This is the way mammoth career ladders grow, branch by branch, and rung by rung – awaiting hands-on experts and can-do managers.

Specialization: sawmill/planing mill industry

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN WITH US

As a wood processing mechanic, you carry out the initial inspection of logs, organize them, cut them to length, and true them up. You operate and monitor machines for sawing and wood processing, produce various wood products, and maintain the necessary saws, blades, and milling cutters. You become acquainted with drying the wood, commissioning the products, and managing the warehouses. In addition, you get to know about the types and properties of the most important softwoods and hardwoods, felling and sorting wood in the forest, and proper storage.

HOW WE DESIGN YOUR TRAINING

You will complete your training with us on a team of experienced experts. We will provide you with all the required knowledge and skills in practice for working on state-of-art equipment. You will thereby also always know what progress you have already made in your training. Your training runs for 3 years – alternating operation and block instruction.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING WITH YOU

You have at least a good Certificate of Secondary Education and basic technical understanding. Dealing with wood as a natural and renewable raw material has already aroused your interest. You appreciate the collaborative work on a team as much as targeted independent work. Furthermore you bring a healthy portion of self-motivation with you.

AND HOW IT CAN KEEP GOING

After your training, you have a variety of options to qualify further both internally and externally:

  • You become a specialized technician or manager at Klenk Holz with shift or section responsibility.
  • You will continue your training to become a technical business administrator, engineer, industrial foreman, or technical business economist – or you will opt to study at a university.

Specialization: Plant technology

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN WITH US

As an electronics technician you assume responsibility for the smooth flow of production and the safety of the employees. Your tasks include the commissioning, supervision, and maintenance of major electrical systems. You lay cables and connect entire systems or parts of them. Reading and understanding circuit diagrams are daily activities for you. Mechanical, electromechanical, and electrical components and units are assembled and wired by you.

HOW WE DESIGN YOUR TRAINING

You will complete your training with us on a team of experienced experts. We will provide you with all the required knowledge and skills in practice for working on state-of-art machines. You will thereby also always know what progress you have already made in your training. Your training runs for 3 years – alternating operation and school.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING WITH YOU

You have at least a very good Certificate of Secondary Education and a keen interest in technical interrelationships. Your capacity for teamwork is also required in dealing with engineers, technicians, and colleagues. Furthermore you bring a healthy portion of self-motivation with you.

AND HOW IT CAN KEEP GOING

After your training, you have a variety of options to qualify further both internally and externally:

  • You become a specialized technician or manager at Klenk Holz with shift or department responsibility.
  • You will continue your training to become a technical business administrator, engineer, industrial foreman, or technical business economist – or you will even opt to study at a university.

Specialization: Plant technology

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN WITH US

As an industrial mechanic you are responsible for the commissioning, supervision, and maintenance of our operating facilities. You are our “Johnny on the spot” when malfunctions need to be identified and resolved. Your tasks are varied. In addition to the demand-based construction of major facilities for processing wood, you also are in command of the machines with the aid of modern computers. When problems occur in the operating procedure, you deal with the mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic functional capacity.

HOW WE DESIGN YOUR TRAINING

You will complete your training with us on a team of experienced experts. We will provide you with all the required knowledge and skills in practice for working on state-of-art machines. You will thereby also always know what progress you have already made in your training. Your training runs for 3 years – alternating operation and school.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING WITH YOU

You have at least a good Certificate of Secondary Education and should absolutely bring along manual dexterity and creativity for solving problems. Your capacity for teamwork is required in dealing with engineers, technicians, and colleagues. You enjoy working with computers.

AND HOW IT CAN KEEP GOING

After your training, you have a variety of options to qualify further both internally and externally:

  • You become a specialized technician or manager at Klenk Holz with shift or department responsibility.
  • You will continue your training to become a technical business administrator, engineer, industrial foreman, or technical business economist – or you will even opt to study at a university.

Specialization: Commercial vehicle technology

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN WITH US

As a motor vehicle mechanic you are responsible for the maintenance of our fleet of vehicles. This includes forklifts, wheel loaders, excavators, trucks, and cars. You repair or fabricate components, install these in the vehicles, check their functions, and start up the vehicles. You remove and install components. It is your responsibility to meticulously search for defects in mechanical and electronic systems. In doing so you check the functioning and condition of the components and whether a repair or replacement is necessary.

You will complete your training with us on a team of experienced experts. We will provide you with all the required knowledge and skills in practice for working on state-of-art machines. You will thereby also always know what progress you have already made in your training. Your training runs for 3 years – alternating practice and school.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING WITH YOU

You have at least a very good Certificate of Secondary Education and a keen interest in technical interrelationships and motor vehicles of all kinds. A capacity for teamwork in dealing with colleagues is required.

AND HOW IT CAN KEEP GOING

After your training, you have a variety of options to qualify further both internally and externally:

  • You become a specialized technician or manager at Klenk Holz with shift or department responsibility.
  • You will continue your training to become a technical business administrator, engineer, industrial foreman, or technical business economist – or you will even opt to study at a university.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN WITH US

In the classic among the business vocational training occupations, you learn everything that a business person has to know in a modern company. Whether purchasing wood or selling wood products to the whole world, you will demonstrate your knack for calculating, get to know and put to practical use EDP programs, commercially work on applying modern machine technology, or help design the company’s communication in marketing. There is something for everyone, and at the end of your training you will know which area corresponds to your skills and in which division of our company you would like to continue your career.

HOW WE DESIGN YOUR TRAINING

You will complete your training with us on a team of experienced experts. We will provide you with all the required knowledge and skills in practice for the work as an industrial administrator. You will thereby also always know what progress you have already made in your training. Your training runs for 3 years with regular academic instruction.

OPTIONAL

The additional qualification in international business management with foreign languages. The requirement for this is a stay abroad of approximately one month in the export sector of Klenk Holz. This means for you specifically:

  • More exams
  • Higher admission qualification

WHAT YOU WILL BRING WITH YOU

You have a good secondary school leaving certificate, general or subject-specific certificate of university entrance qualification and a keen interest in business processes. A capacity for teamwork in dealing with colleagues is required.

  • You continue to train for business administrator or business economist and pursue your career via university studies.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN WITH US


Together with us, you will complete a dual course of studies in wood technology, wood business administration, or business information technology. We will ensure an optimum combination of academic studies and practical training in the workplace. Connect from the beginning your theoretical knowledge from your studies to the practical requirements at work. You will thus learn in the context of your diverse project activities to apply practically what you acquired from your studies. HOW WE DESIGN YOUR TRAINING

No matter which course of studies you decide on at Klenk Holz: You will pass through all departments and specialist divisions – for only in this way will you get a solid basic knowledge for all relevant areas of activity. You will need this for fulfilling challenging tasks in a modern and practice-oriented work environment. You period of study is 3 years. Theory and practice will each share half the time.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING WITH YOU

You have the general or subject-specific certificate of university entrance qualification. Wood as a natural and renewable raw material has already aroused your interest. You appreciate collaborative work on a team as much as targeted independent work.

AND HOW IT CAN KEEP GOING

After your graduation you can, depending on your aptitude and inclination, work in virtually all operational areas of our company and be prepared for management of teams, projects, and departments.
